Change or clean the filter at the beginning
of each season.
Don't keep changing the setting on the thermostat. Set it and
leave it. You do not save energy turning the unit up or down when
you're not at home. The unit must work much harder to get back
to temperature, so be consistent.
Keep in mind that during the very hot months many people call
for service because it seems that the unit is never cooling enough.
A good rule of thumb is if the temperature difference between
the outside and inside is 15-20 degrees, it is working right.
If you see ice on the outside unit call for service immediately.
Many of us have small children and have turned the water heater
down to prevent burns to our children. Unfortunately, dishwashers
need water heated to 140 degrees for cleaning purposes.
Don't delay calling for service. Most repairs are minor if caught
and fixed in a timely manner. However, continued use results in
more damage.
